What to Know About Women’s Basketball Today
1. The CBA Clock Is Ticking ⏰
Something scary is coming this Friday, and we don’t mean Halloween. We’re less than four days away from the WNBA’s current collective bargaining agreement (CBA) expiring on October 31. (ESPN)
WHY IT MATTERS: The league and the players’ union appear far apart on the major issue of the player compensation model, but an expired CBA doesn’t automatically mean a lockout. Both sides could agree to extend negotiations, like they did in 2019. One way or another, we’ll should have a clearer picture about next steps for CBA negotiations by this Friday.

2. Watch List Announced for the Best College Point Guards 💫
The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame released its 20-player watch list for the 2026 Nancy Lieberman Award, which honors the best point guard in Division I women’s college basketball. (Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame)
WHY IT MATTERS: The annual list, curated by one of basketball’s most respected organizations, offers an early look at the nation’s elite floor generals. You’ll find familiar names from powerhouse programs, such as MiLaysia Fulwiley (LSU), Kiki Rice (UCLA) and Hannah Hidalgo (Notre Dame), as well as a few rising underclassmen, such as freshman Aaliyah Chavez (Oklahoma) and sophomore Britt Prince (Nebraska).

3. Clemson Lands a Potential Program-Shifting Recruit 🐯
There may be a new South Carolina powerhouse brewing. Trinity Jones, the No. 11-ranked player in the Class of 2026, has committed to Clemson. (Yahoo Sports)
WHY IT MATTERS: With opportunities at Tennessee, LSU, UCLA, and TCU on the table, Jones’ commitment is a surprise given Clemson’s sub-par performance last season. The Tigers finished 14-17 overall, and 6-12 in the ACC conference. Her arrival could be a turning point. For a program looking to make a postseason push, Jones may be the missing piece that gets them there.
