What to Know About Women’s Basketball Today

1. Women’s Final Four Moves to Lucas Oil Stadium 🏟️

The NCAA announced the 2028 Women’s March Madness Final Four will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, home of the Colts. The football venue can seat up to 65,000 fans. This is the first time since 2005 that a women’s March Madness game will play in a football stadium. (Reuters)

WHY IT MATTERS: The women’s game continues its rapid rise. Moving to a stadium mirrors the men’s Final Four shift years ago and signals the NCAA’s confidence in women’s basketball as a massive, must-see IRL event. It also sets the stage for record-breaking attendance and visibility.

2. WNBA Adds USA Network to Media Rights Package 📺

The WNBA has signed an 11-year deal with USA Network to broadcast games, expanding its media reach beyond last year’s landmark partnerships with Disney, Amazon, and NBC. (ESPN)

WHY IT MATTERS: Media rights are the biggest driver of revenue for any sports league. While financial details weren’t disclosed, adding USA Network means broader access for fans and another step toward long-term growth and financial sustainability.

3. Turner & Sims Sign with Athletes Unlimited

Two members of the Indiana Fever, Brianna Turner and Odyssey Sims, are officially joining Athletes Unlimited Basketball for the 2026 season. Turner, a defensive anchor for the Fever, will make her AU debut, while Sims returns after back-to-back runner-up finishes.

WHY IT MATTERS: AU is unique in that the league’s 40 players change teams each week and they compete for individual points, with one player crowned champion at the end of the season.

The league continues to grow and attract even higher top-tier talent heading into its fifth season. Turner and Sims were pivotal in Indiana’s 2025 WNBA semifinal run, and their presence boosts AU’s level of play. Sims brings veteran experience while Turner adds a fresh, versatile presence to the league.
