1. All-Star Voting Off to a Record-Breaking Start 😲

The WNBA released the first returns of fan voting for the 2025 All-Star Game, and the surprise isn’t where you might think. Caitlin Clark leads all players with 515,993 votes, followed by Napheesa Collier with 484,758. The Indiana Fever lead all teams with eight players in the top 40.

WHY IT MATTERS: Clark and Collier leading isn’t shocking, but the volume of votes is. The top three vote-getters already have 400k+ each, and total voting is up 137% from last year and a massive 1,335% from 2023. These first returns represent a huge leap in WNBA fan interest and engagement.

Fan voting stays open through Saturday, June 28.

2. USA Basketball Finalizes AmeriCup Roster 🇺🇸

USA Basketball has announced the final 2025 Women’s AmeriCup Team roster. The squad, loaded with top college basketball talent, will represent Team USA in Chile this summer. Headliners include Hannah Hidalgo, Flau’jae Johnson, Olivia Miles, Madison Booker, and Joyce Edwards.

WHY IT MATTERS: AmeriCup is a key qualifier for the 2026 FIBA World Cup and 2028 Olympics. Since WNBA players typically don’t leave their teams midseason for this event, USA Basketball turns to the college ranks.

Fortunately, the talent pipeline is deep. Plus, it gives these young athletes the chance to gain international experience while representing Team USA against seasoned pros from around the world.

3. EuroBasket Quarterfinal Matchups Set 🔒

Group play at FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2025 is complete, and eight national teams are headed to the quarterfinals: France, Turkey, Italy, Lithuania, Belgium, Czechia, Spain, and Germany. (FIBA)

WHY IT MATTERS: EuroBasket serves as a qualifier for both the FIBA Women’s World Cup and the Olympics, so it’s an important tournament for national teams. So important, that several WNBA players are competing and will continue missing league games to represent their countries:

  • Julie Vanloo (Valkyries / Belgium)

  • Janelle Salaün (Valkyries / France)

  • Teaira McCowan (Wings / Turkey)

  • Leonie Fiebich (Liberty / Germany)

Quarterfinal action begins Tuesday, June 24, with France facing Lithuania and Turkey taking on Italy.
