What to Know About Women’s Basketball Today

1. Adam Silver Says WNBA Players Will Get “a Big Increase” 💰

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver spoke in a recent interview about the WNBA’s current CBA negotiations, stating that players will get a “big increase” in compensation. He also notably included “I think share isn't the right way to look at it” when asked about the potential of revenue sharing for W players. (CBS Sports)

WHY IT MATTERS: The NBA owns more than 50% of the WNBA, and as commissioner, Silver has a sizable influence in the WNBA CBA talks. His comments downplay revenue sharing, suggesting resistance from ownership. If no CBA deal is reached by the end of this month, both sides could choose to extend the deadline for negotiations. A player lockout is not off the table, however, as revenue sharing is one of the top demands from players.

2. UConn Lands 5-Star Recruit Olivia Vukosa 🐺

UConn just landed a massive recruit. Olivia Vukosa, No. 3 in the Class of 2026, has committed to the Huskies. (ESPN)

WHY IT MATTERS: Vukosa is a versatile big who can post-up inside, shoot from three, and pass in transition, drawing comparisons to another UConn alum and current WNBA vet Stephanie Dolson. Some scouts predict that the 6-foot-4 post will finish her high school career as the nation’s No. 1 recruit. She had the pick of the litter in terms of top programs, including LSU, South Carolina, Texas, and opted for UConn, becoming their first 2026 commit.

3. Caitlin Clark Nears 5-on-5 Return

Fever head coach Stephanie White shared news on star Caitlin Clark in a new podcast releasing today, saying she’s making progress with her recovery and hopes to start full 5-on-5 play soon. (IndyStar)

WHY IT MATTERS: The 2024 Rookie of the Year had an injury-limited sophomore season, but a healthy Clark could quickly put the Indiana Fever back into the title conversation. She plans to skip winter play, including Unrivaled and Athletes Unlimited, and focus on a strong 2026 WNBA campaign. Her only offseason commitment currently is to Team USA for the FIBA World Cup qualifier tournament in March.
