Good morning! ☕️

What to Know About Women’s Basketball Today

1. Apple TV Is Producing a UConn Women’s Basketball Docuseries 🍿

UConn Women’s Basketball is getting the docuseries treatment. Apple TV is producing a new three-part series on the program’s historic four-decade run. (Deadline)

WHY IT MATTERS: The Huskies are not only defending national champs, but a legacy championship program that has elevated the game for decades. Using archival footage and interviews, the show will cover 40 years of UConn women’s basketball, highlighting Geno Auriemma’s leadership and the rise of a program that’s now home to 12 national championships.

2. Caitlin Clark Injured Again, Timeline Unclear 🤕

Caitlin Clark is day-to-day with a left groin issue, the Indiana Fever announced Thursday. She missed last night’s 85–75 loss to the L.A. Sparks. (ESPN)

WHY IT MATTERS: This is Clark’s second lower-body injury this month. She recently returned after missing five games with a left quad strain, and hadn’t missed a single game in college or the WNBA before that.

In her nine games this season, she’s averaged 18.2 points, 8.9 assists, and 5.6 rebounds per game, and her presence has been central to the Fever’s chemistry and offensive flow. Indiana is 2–4 without her this season. Here's hoping she’s back on the court soon.

3. Rookie Lexi Held Took a 3-Day Train Ride Back to Phoenix 🚆

Phoenix Mercury rookie Lexi Held couldn’t fly after suffering a partially collapsed lung during last Thursday’s game vs. the Liberty—so she took the train home instead. The trip took over three days. (Phoenix Mercury)

WHY IT MATTERS: Held has quietly become one of the WNBA’s top rookie surprises. The 5’10” DePaul product went undrafted in 2022 and spent three years playing overseas before earning her role with Phoenix, helping the team reach an 11-4 record .

She’s appeared in 14 games, averaging 20.7 minutes, 8.7 points, and 1.5 steals per game—and ESPN currently ranks her as the #4 rookie in the league.

Her timeline for return is still unclear, but we’re glad she made it back safely and hope she’s on the mend.
