What to Know About Women’s Basketball Today

1. WNBA’s Latest CBA Proposal Raises the Ceiling 💰

Details are emerging about the league’s newest CBA draft, and it includes some big numbers. The proposal includes a $5 million salary cap and a guaranteed $1 million base for max-salary contracts, a big jump from the current structure. (ESPN)

WHY IT MATTERS: This version shows the league embracing several of the WNBPA’s core requests, including a higher guaranteed base rather than the earlier proposal that capped max deals at $1 million across base pay and revenue targets. But with negotiations extended into January, the two sides clearly aren’t close yet. The next six weeks will determine how much alignment exists and whether 2026 will begin under a new deal.

2. Texas Climbs in the Latest AP Top 25 📊

The newest AP Top 25 dropped Monday with movement near the top. Texas jumps to No. 2 after beating both UCLA and South Carolina at the Players Era Championship, while Ohio State returns to the rankings at No. 23 after a strong four‑game win streak.

WHY IT MATTERS: Texas’ rise comes from taking on one of the toughest early schedules in the country and winning big, including two signature victories over title contenders. Meanwhile, Ohio State’s return to the Top 25 reflects some much needed Buckeyes stability after a bumpy start. With conference play around the corner, there will no doubt be more movement in the weeks ahead.

3. Azzi Fudd Is on Another Level From Three 🎯

UConn guard Azzi Fudd is torching nets to start the season. She’s shooting 27‑for‑49 (55.1%) from deep, making her the only player in Division I to rank in the top five in both threes made per game and three‑point percentage. (UConn)

WHY IT MATTERS: When Fudd gets rolling, UConn becomes a completely different offensive team. Her efficiency is entering rare territory for a shooter taking this many threes.
