What to Know About Women’s Basketball Today

1. Chicago Will Host the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game 🌟

The WNBA announced that Chicago will host the 2026 All-Star Game at the United Center, home of the Bulls (MNBA) and Blackhawks (NHL). The city last held the event in 2022 at the smaller Wintrust Arena. (Fox 32 Chicago)

WHY IT MATTERS: It’s another sign of how far the WNBA has come in just a few short years. Chicago hosted the 2022 All-Star game at Wintrust, with a capacity of 10,000. By moving to the United Center, the 2026 edition will have room for 20,000+ fans. But some are questioning the decision to keep the 3-Point Contest and Skills Challenge at Wintrust, especially if 2026 marks Caitlin Clark’s 3-Point Contest debut.

2. The 2025 WNBA Season Set New Viewership Records 📺

ESPN announced that the 2025 WNBA season was its most-watched ever, for both the regular season and the playoffs. Ratings surged across ESPN networks, and nearly every marquee event (Opening Weekend, Skills Challenge, 3-Point Contest, and Postseason) saw growth. (ESPN Press Room)

WHY IT MATTERS: This season’s record-breaking viewership proves that the WNBA’s growth isn’t tied to just one or two stars, it’s happening across the board. Fans are tuning in for every team. Just as important, these numbers show networks like ESPN that women’s basketball draws real value, paving the way for (hopefully) even greater access and more nationally televised games next season.

3. A Player to Know: Awa Fam 🇪🇸

Meet Awa Fam, the 19-year-old Spanish forward making waves for Valencia in EuroLeague play. She dropped 17 points, 7 boards, and 3 steals this week against powerhouse Fenerbahçe, a roster with 5 WNBA players. (CBS Sports)

WHY IT MATTERS: Get her name on your radar now. Fam is projected as an early pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft and is already proving she can hang with elite pros. You’ll be able to say you were one of the first who knew about this up-and-coming talent.
