What to Know About Women’s Basketball Today

1. Kelsey Plum Unveils Power-Packed 2025 Dawg Class ⭐️

Los Angeles Sparks star Kelsey Plum has announced the 12-player roster for her 2025 Dawg Class, a high-intensity training camp designed to help elite college guards prepare for the pros. The invite-only camp, in collaboration with Under Armour, focuses on bridging the gap between college and the WNBA.

This year’s Dawg Class includes NCAA champions, All-Americans, and top prospects—among them UConn’s Azzi Fudd and KK Arnold, Kentucky’s Georgia Amoore, and Harvard standout Harmoni Turner.

WHY IT MATTERS: Today’s WNBA stars aren’t just growing their own brands, they’re lifting up the next generation. Plum launched the Dawg Class as a passion project, aiming to mentor the best guards in the college game and give them a clearer roadmap to pro success.

In addition to skill development, the program covers recovery, mental preparation, media training, and brand-building—essentials for navigating today’s WNBA. Now in its third year, past Dawg Class alums include Nika Mühl, Kate Martin, and MiLaysia Fulwiley.

2. Rori Harmon Returning to Texas for Fifth Season 🤘

Texas is keeping its floor general. Point guard Rori Harmon announced she’ll be back for a fifth season, giving the Longhorns a major boost after their Final Four run.

WHY IT MATTERS: Harmon is eligible for a fifth year after missing most of her junior season with a torn ACL. Her return as a grad student brings veteran leadership and elite playmaking back to a Texas team that’s already stacked. With All-American and SEC Player of the Year Madison Booker also returning, the Longhorns will bring back three of five starters—making them an early contender to get back to the Final Four next season.

3. What to Know About the Upcoming WNBA Draft 📝

The 2025 WNBA Draft is almost here. Here’s what you need to know:

  • It takes place Monday, April 14 at 7:30 PM ET, live on ESPN.

  • Only 38 players will be drafted this year (not 39), as the Las Vegas Aces were forced to forfeit their first-round pick.

  • The Dallas Wings hold the No. 1 pick and are expected to select UConn’s Paige Bueckers.

👉 Read our full guide to how the WNBA Draft works—who’s eligible, how picks are assigned, and why some teams have more than others.

WHY IT MATTERS: With just 156 roster spots across 13 teams, the WNBA is the most competitive pro league in sports. Being drafted is a huge milestone—but it’s just the beginning. Even top picks have to fight for a spot, and many rookies are released before they ever step on a court. That makes draft night both a celebration and the start of a pressure-packed journey.
