1. Conference Champions Crowned as March Madness Looms 🏆

The women’s college basketball regular season for many is in the books, and conference champions have been decided. Here’s a quick recap:

  • SEC: South Carolina and Texas finished tied (15-1), earning co-champion honors. A coin flip gave South Carolina the No. 1 tournament seed. (USA Today)

  • Big 12: TCU made history, winning its first-ever Big 12 regular-season title after a winner-take-all win over Baylor. (Big 12 Sports)

  • Big Ten: USC, led by JuJu Watkins, clinched the title outright after beating rival UCLA. (Big Ten)

  • Big East: UConn extended its dominance, winning a 12th straight regular-season championship. (UConn Blog)

  • ACC: Notre Dame and NC State shared the crown, both finishing 16-2. (CBS News)

Next up: conference tournaments, where every game could shake up March Madness seeding.

WHY IT MATTERS: The depth of competition is at an all-time high. Two major conferences ended with co-champions, and multiple titles came down to the final day. This postseason you can expect chaos, upsets, and plenty of drama.

2. Three Women’s Basketball Greats Named to USA TODAY’s Women of the Year List 📋

USA Today announced their 2025 Women of the Year List—and three women hoopers made the cut. New York Liberty center and 2025 WNBA Finals MVP Jonquel Jones, Connecticut Sun President Jennifer Rizzotti, and University of Southern Mississippi head coach Joye Lee-McNelis were recognized for their inspiring work that is breaking barriers and pushing for positive change. (USA Today)

WHY IT MATTERS: Women’s basketball has a rich history of cultural influencers and change makers. Fortunately, more media institutions are beginning to recognize the power and greatness of these women, introducing their stories to audiences outside of basketball.

3. Maddy Siegrist Crowned 2025 Athletes Unlimited Champion 👑

Maddy Siegrist came to Nashville with something to prove this Athletes Unlimited season. After finishing 12th in 2024, she dominated in 2025, averaging 24 PPG and captaining three of four weeks. She edged out Odyssey Sims by 457 points, setting a new AU record with 7,052 leaderboard points to claim the title. (Athletes Unlimited)

WHY IT MATTERS: The Villanova grad and Dallas Wings forward had a quiet WNBA rookie season, before adjusting to the pro level in year two. Now, after this standout AU performance, 2025 could be a breakout year for the 6’1” versatile scoring machine. Keep an eye on Siegrist when the W tips off.

Notre Dame senior Liatu King is making plays on the court, and making statements in fashion, too. King, who has a passion for styling, took on a special client for Sunday’s game against Louisville: her own head coach Niele Ivey. Known for her elite sideline fits, Ivey let King take the reins, and the result did not disappoint. Check out the look here 👉 Notre Dame Instagram
