What to Know About Women’s Basketball Today
1. Former Gamecock Bree Hall Signs with the Valkyries 🌉
Former South Carolina guard Bree Hall has signed with the Golden State Valkyries and will wear No. 21. She’ll be available to make her WNBA regular-season debut tonight when the Valkyries host the Indiana Fever. (The State)
📺 Watch Bree Hall and the Valkyries vs. the Fever – Thursday, July 18 at 7 PM ET on Amazon Prime
WHY IT MATTERS: Hall was drafted by Indiana with the 20th overall pick in April’s WNBA Draft but was waived before the season began. She now reunites with her former South Carolina teammate Laeticia Amihere, who recently rejoined the Valkyries.
At 6'1", Hall is a versatile two-way guard, a two-time NCAA champion, and known for her lockdown defense and clutch shooting, especially from beyond the arc. She could be a strong fit in Golden State’s system.

2. Pat Summitt Honored with New Exhibit at Hall of Fame 🧡
The Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame has unveiled a new permanent exhibit honoring the legacy of Pat Summitt, one of the most iconic coaches in sports history.
The new exhibit, called “The Legacy,” includes books, awards, her Team USA jersey, and of course, her signature orange stool. It opened just ahead of what would’ve been her birthday. (Knox News)
WHY IT MATTERS: Pat Summitt is one of the most transformative figures in the history of women’s basketball. As the longtime head coach of Tennessee, she led the Lady Vols to 8 national championships and over 1,000 career wins, all while helping elevate the visibility and legitimacy of the women’s game.
She was a fierce advocate for athletes, a mentor to future coaches, and a driving force behind the creation of the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame itself. This new exhibit honors her achievements and impact.

3. Skylar Diggins Enters Top 10 in All-Time WNBA Assists 🔟
Skylar Diggins officially moved into 10th place on the WNBA’s all-time assist leaderboard in Seattle’s win over the Sparks, passing Cappie Pondexter. She now has 1,584 career assists. (WNBA)
WHY IT MATTERS: Diggins has been one of the league’s most consistent and creative facilitators over her 10-year career, averaging 5.2 assists per game. She’s the fastest player in WNBA history to record both 5,000 points and 1,500 assists.
She also holds the Storm’s franchise records for assists in both a season (257) and a single game (14). With her court vision and poise, she continues to be one of the game’s smartest playmakers.
