International basketball continues—the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup tips off Sunday, with group play featuring 8 national teams split into two groups. (FIBA)
WHY IT MATTERS: Much like EuroBasket and the AmeriCup, the Asia Cup is a bi-annual international tournament with real consequences for national teams. Top finishers become eligible for the FIBA World Cup qualifying tournaments.
This year’s field includes: China, Japan, Indonesia, Lebanon, the Philippines, Korea, Australia, and New Zealand.

2. Sydney Colson to Host Stand-Up Show During All-Star Weekend 🎭
Indiana Fever guard Sydney Colson has been making her teammates and WNBA fans laugh for years. Now she’s taking her comedy to the next level. The Fever guard will host a “special comedy set” during this year’s All-Star Weekend festivities in Indianapolis. (Indiana Fever)
WHY IT MATTERS: WNBA athletes have been expanding their cultural impact off the court, with several active and retired players involved in fashion or media. Colson is taking a unique path, with a focus on acting and comedy. Alongside former WNBA player Theresa Plaisance, she previously wrote, produced, and starred in a comedy series called The Syd + TP Show. Now, she’s bringing her signature humor to a live audience, blending basketball and comedy in a way only Sydney can.

3. Atlanta’s First Women’s Sports Bar Opens Its Doors 🍻
