What to Know About Women’s Basketball Today

1. 2025 WNBA Playoff Schedule is Here 📆

The WNBA released the full playoff schedule this week. Postseason games tip off Sunday, Sept. 14 and could run as late as October. 17. Every playoff game will air on ABC, ESPN, or ESPN2. (Bleacher Report)

WHY IT MATTERS: The league’s top 8 teams make it into the postseason, seeded based on regular season records. But the postseason looks a little different this year:

  • Finals expanded to a best-of-seven series (up from five).

  • The first round is still best-of-three, but now features a 1-1-1- home/away structure with teams alternating home court.

2. Aces Catch Fire in Sprint to Playoffs 🔥

The Las Vegas Aces crushed Phoenix 83-61 last night, making it 11 wins in their last 12 games—including nine straight. They’ve surged into 3rd place and could now host a first-round series. (WNBA)

WHY IT MATTERS: This is a huge turnaround for a team that looked shaky in the first half of the season, including a brutal 53-point loss at home to the Lynx. Now, with them finding their groove and A’ja Wilson dominating across the board (top 3 in points, rebounds, steals, and blocks), the Aces suddenly look like title contenders again.

3. Tina Charles Cracks Top 10 in Games Played 💪

Connecticut Sun center Tina Charles just logged her 464th career game, moving her into 10th place all-time and past Tangela Smith (463). (WNBA)

WHY IT MATTERS: Making the W is tough. Lasting 15 seasons as Charles has done is elite. The 2012 MVP and the league’s all-time rebounds leader continues to prove her longevity and consistency.
