What to Know About Women’s Basketball Today
1. WNBA Hopes to Extend CBA Deadline by 30 Days 📝
Just days from the deadline, the WNBA has offered players a 30-day extension to keep negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement. (ESPN)
WHY IT MATTERS: Talks have moved slowly, and both sides need more time to bridge differences. One source said players might agree to an extension “under the right circumstances,” though they feel “those circumstances do not yet exist.” The extension would offer some breathing room without a strike or lockout, but it’s clear there’s still a long way to go before the two sides find common ground. Fingers crossed they’re able to get there soon.

2. Liberty’s Coaching Search Enters Week Five 👀
The New York Liberty are the lone WNBA team without a head coach after parting ways with Sandy Brondello. Former WNBA guard, NBA assistant and current Phoenix Mercury associate head coach Kristi Toliver is reportedly interviewing in New York this week. (The Sporting News)
WHY IT MATTERS: New York raised eyebrows when it dismissed Brondello just a year after her championship run. Toliver, who has both NBA and WNBA bench experience, would fit a recent pattern of WNBA hires with NBA roots, though this would be her first shot at leading a team.

3. Naismith Reveals Drysdale Award Watch List 🪣
The Naismith Hall of Fame dropped its Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Watch List, featuring 20 of top shooting guards in the country.
WHY IT MATTERS: This preseason list gives an early look at the players poised to light it up from the wing this year. Among the 20 are elite scorers like Azzi Fudd (UConn), Flau’Jae Johnson (LSU), and Mikayla Blakes (Vanderbilt). Expect plenty of buckets from this crew all year long.

OVERTIME ⏱️
Not Too Young to Ball: Kali Buggs is just in fifth grade but already breaking ankles. Keep her on your future stars watch list.
Untuck if You Want: A new NCAA rule says jerseys no longer have to be tucked in during games. A small change, but a nostalgic one for anyone who grew up hearing “Tuck it in!”
